Agamaggan was one of the Ancients (Night elf culture speaks of both ancients and Ancients (note the capital A).), an immortal Giant Boar which legend say was among the first living creatures to roam Azeroth (The following is a list of links to pages that might share the same title.). The creature's body was surrounded by thorny vines. His immense appetite made his body grow as years passed, making him a juggernaut of raw strength, using his thorny vines and tusks as weapons. Agamaggan was often hunted by the trolls (Trolls average seven feet in height and two hundred pounds in weight, save for two tribes, the Drakkari and the Zandalari, who tend to be somewhat larger than their kindred.), unsuccessfully.
During the War of the Ancients (The following is a list of links to pages that might share the same title.), 10 millennia ago, Cenarius (Cenarius is one of the most powerful and influential demigods of Azeroth, Lord of the Forest, and the patron god of all druids.) sought the assistance of Agamaggan, convincing the god boar that if the Burning Legion (The Burning Legion (aka demon hordeDotD 161) is a massive army of demons, infernals, and corrupted races who seek to destroy any trace of order in the Universe.) won the war, all life would be destroyed in the world. Agamaggan assaulted the stronghold of Azshara ( Sea Giant (1,350) Satyr (900) Night Elf (900) Blue Dragonflight, dragonspawn (720) Tauren (630) High Elf (450) Furbolg (450) Blood Elf
Azshara is located in northeastern Kalimdor, east of Ashenvale, south of Winterspring, and north of Durotar.), the Eternal Palace, slaying thousands of Doomguards (The Doomguard appears to be a class, caste or rank within the ered'ruin, tarshesite and fiends.) and Felguards (The felguard are the Burning Legion's basic foot soldiers, and are conscripted from the mo'arg demon race.) with fury. Among his abilities, Agamaggan could stomp the ground with his massive hoof, breathe corrosive acid upon his enemies and cast a rain of thorns that would detach from his back causing considerable harm.
The battle between Agamaggan and the demons was lengthy, and ranged across the continent, toward the west. Agamaggan fought the Pit Lord (A warrior hero of the Annihilan, exceptional at weakening enemies and melee combat.) Mannoroth (Mannoroth the Destructor was a Pit Lord whose ruthlessness and vile cunning made him into one of the favoured lieutenants of his masters, Archimonde and Kil'jaeden, the champions of the Burning Legion.) – Archimonde (Archimonde the Defiler was the left hand of the fallen titan, Sargeras.)'s lieutenant and servant of Sargeras (Sargeras the Destroyer, the Fallen Titan, is the creator and leader of the Burning Legion.). Finally, Agamaggan fell before the Legion sacrificing himself, but his assistance was vital, allowing Malfurion (Malfurion Stormrage is the greatest Archdruid ever to live, and arguably one of the most powerful beings in Azeroth.) and others to enter the stronghold of Azshara to reach the Well of Eternity (The glowing, swirling pool known as the Well of Eternity was once a sizable lake.).
Agamaggan was slain in the land currently known as the Barrens ( Tauren (3,400) Goblin (4,250) Troll (2,550) Dwarf (850) Gnome (510) Night Elf (170) Human (170)
The Barrens is a large zone in central Kalimdor, controlled by the Horde.), near the Field of Giants (Covering much of the southernmost portion of the Barrens, the Field of Giants lies between Camp Taurajo and the entrance to Dustwallow Marsh.). The Quilboar (Quilboars are a race of humanoids native to the continent of Kalimdor.) believe that wherever Agamaggan's blood fell, the land grew the thick thorn vines that characterized him. The blood spilled created red gems called Blood Shards (Blood Shards are said to have been formed by the blood falling from the Quilboar's patron demigod, Agamaggan.), which Quilboar use as totems to amplify their magic and to give them temporary boosts to strength, intellect, agility, speed, and more. Legend says Agamaggan might walk among the living someday, and the Quilboar await that day. Rexxar came across Agamaggan's remains as he headed to the observatory through the quilboar (Quilboars are a race of humanoids native to the continent of Kalimdor.)-infested cave.
Today he is the patron of the quilboar tribes, nearly all of whom revere the boar god and pray for his return.S&L 72
World of WarcraftOne of the realms in World of Warcraft is named after Agamaggan.
See: Realm Names and their place in Warcraft LoreSpeculationFearsome rumors tell of an alliance between the Quilboar and the Undead Scourge. One can think that the quilboar now know the secrets of necromancy, and if such a thing is true they could indeed resurrect their demigod, although this is unlikely because all that is left are bones.
