A cunning and horrifically powerful Dreadlord (The following is a list of links to pages that might share the same title.), Anetheron was second in the ranks of the Nathrezim (Nathrezim, or Dreadlords, are intelligent and cunning demons, who were discovered and recruited to the ranks of the Burning Legion by Sargeras, the dark titan.) only to Tichondrius (Tichondrius the Darkener was the leader of the Nathrezim Dreadlords of the Burning Legion, under the command of Kil'jaeden.) himself (he later took the place of Tichondrius for a brief period).
Anetheron waited in the Twisting Nether (The Twisting Nether dimension is separate, but intertwined with the primary material dimension (where your player character lives most of the time).), acting as emissary of Archimonde (Archimonde the Defiler was the left hand of the fallen titan, Sargeras.) to Tichondrius. He was one of the Dreadlords assigned to watch over the Lich King, and grew agitated when they began to suspect the Lich King (The Lich King was an entity created by Kil'jaeden the Deceiver from the spirit of the orcish shaman Ner'zhul.) of treachery and possibly becoming a threat to the Burning Legion (The Burning Legion (aka demon hordeDotD 161) is a massive army of demons, infernals, and corrupted races who seek to destroy any trace of order in the Universe.). But Tichondrius was confident that, despite his obvious ulterior motives, the Lich King was still providing the tools they needed to make way for the invasion. In a meeting in the Twisting Nether, Tichondrius assured Anetheron that everything was still well in his control.[1]
When Archimonde came to the world, Anetheron went with him, and served as a personal guardsman. Anetheron showed his tenacity when he led the Scourge against the Sentinels (Were you looking for the Warcraft III upgrade called Sentinel, or the Silverwing Sentinels?
The sentinels (aka Sentinel Army) are an elite guard belonging to the night elves.), Alliance (The Alliance (a.), and Horde (The Horde is one of the two major political factions of the mortal races in Azeroth, its counterpart being the Alliance.) in the final, climactic battle for Mount Hyjal (Hyjal is a region of northern Kalimdor, located southwest of Winterspring, east of Felwood, northeast of Ashenvale, and northwest of Azshara.). He was put in charge of the demonic base camp when Lord Archimonde ascended to crush the World Tree (World Tree refers to two great trees in Azeroth:
Nordrassil, the original World Tree blessed by the dragon aspects, and Teldrassil, the tree created by the night elves in a failed attempt to restore their immortality.). However, Anetheron was killed during the battle. He was not aware of his master's death, and the sapping of his demonic powers until too late, and he and most of the Legion were slaughtered by Night Elves and their allies before they could escape.[2]
After his death, it is presumed that Mephistroth (A horrifically powerful Dreadlord, Mephistroth was third in the ranks of the Nathrezim.) acts as the new lord of the Nathrezim.
