BackgroundBarthilas was an ambitious paladin (The Paladin is a Holy Warrior hybrid class.) who served under Tirion Fordring (Tirion Fordring is a level 61 elite quest giver located by a cottage near the southwestern end of the Terrorweb Tunnel in the contested territory of Eastern Plaguelands.) at Mardenholde Keep (Mardenholde Keep is the fortress keep within the town of Hearthglen, currently held by the Scarlet Crusade.). He may be the same character as Magistrate Barthilas.
Barthilas was ordained a paladin just as the Second War (The Second War was a conflict between the Alliance of Lordaeron and the Old Horde, engulfing all the lands of the Eastern Kingdoms, and ending with the victory for the Alliance.) ended, a war which claimed his parents' lives, and left the young man a deep hatred for all orcs (The green skinned orcs are one of the most prolific races of Azeroth.). When Tirion (Tirion Fordring is a level 61 elite quest giver located by a cottage near the southwestern end of the Terrorweb Tunnel in the contested territory of Eastern Plaguelands.) was found injured and unconscious, Barthilas immediately assumed that it he had been attacked by an orc, and began to scour the countryside for a force of them.
After Barthilas discovered that Tirion had protected the orc Eitrigg (Eitrigg is a level 20 quest giver located in Grommash Hold in the Valley of Wisdom, in the orcish city of Orgrimmar.), he personally oversaw the paladin's persecution, as well the plans for the torture and execution of the orc, only to see Eitrigg rescued.
Barthilas begrudgingly assumed his new position as head of Mardenholde, but was killed shortly afterwards, during Thrall (Thrall, son of Durotan, is the Warchief of the restored shamanistic Horde, and ruler of the red land of Durotar in Kalimdor.)'s raid on Stratholme, his title eventually passing to Tirion's son Taelan Fordring (Highlord Taelan Fordring <Highlord of the Scarlet Crusade> is a level 63 elite human paladin found in Hearthglen in the Western Plaguelands.).
