Duskwood is located in the southern part of Azeroth (The following is a list of links to pages that might share the same title.), south of Elwynn Forest ( High elf (1,500) Ironforge dwarf (700) Half-elf(500) Wildhammer dwarf (300) Gnome Gnoll Kobold Murloc
Elwynn Forest is a vast woodland where the majority of the humans live and is the starting point of all human characters.), east of Westfall ( Gnoll Kobold Murloc
An odd place, Westfall both borders Stormwind, and is populated by humans not under the Alliance's complete control.), west of Deadwind Pass (Deadwind Pass is a buffer zone located in central Azeroth, joining the southeastern reaches of the Kingdom of Stormwind (via Duskwood) by the east to the Swamp of Sorrows (and, eventually, the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands) by the west.), and north of Stranglethorn Vale ( Skullsplitter troll (1,500) Gurubashi troll (1,500) Darkspear troll (1,000) Goblin (2,000) Orc (600) Naga (400) Ogre MurlocSea Giants
The Stranglethorn Vale is a vast jungle south of Duskwood.). This murky forestland is covered in a blanket of perpetual darkness, which is why the region has been given its name. The woods are inhabited by a defiant people who still cling to their holdings in the face of overwhelming adversity. On all sides lurk dangerous creatures, from skeletal warriors and ghouls (Ghouls are the shock troops of the Scourge.) to ferocious worgen (Worgen are large, wolf-like humanoids reminiscent of a werewolf that walks upright, but lopes on all fours to run.) and some of the most powerful members of the Defias Brotherhood (The Defias Brotherhood is a neutral and evil group of assassins, thieves and pirates that dwell in the rural areas of the Kingdom of Stormwind - areas not easily protected by the Army.). The militia of Duskwood, known as the Night Watch (The Night Watch is an independent policing organization created to defend Darkshire from the dangers plaguing Duskwood since Stormwind pulled all of their troops away.), patrol the main thoroughfare and protect Darkshire (Darkshire is a once-quaint little woodland village located in Duskwood, but it has fallen on literally dark times.), wary of anything moving through the shadows. The most prominent geographical feature of Duskwood is an ancient and long-dead volcano crater. The crater teems with life, and features one of the Great Tree (Ysera, the great Dreaming dragon Aspect rules over the enigmatic green dragonflight.) with a portal leading into the Emerald Dream (The Emerald Dream, also known as the Dream and the Dream of Creation, is the verdant realm of the Dragon Aspect Ysera.). The sleeping druids (The Druid is a shapeshifting hybrid class, and is also one of the most versatile classes in the game.)' influence can be seen on the surrounding land, which is cloaked in a twilight quite different from the rest of Duskwood. The woods also feature several abandoned farmsteads, as well as the prominent Raven Hill Cemetery (Raven Hill Cemetery is the sprawling graveyard located north of the abandoned town of Raven Hill in Duskwood.), which holds the graves of the numerous people who have been killed by wild beasts and undead since the darkness fell.
History Duskwood was not always as it appears now. Located in the southern reaches of the Kingdom of Stormwind, the southern part of Elwynn Forest was the location of two sizable towns, now called Darkshire (Darkshire is a once-quaint little woodland village located in Duskwood, but it has fallen on literally dark times.) and Raven Hill (Raven Hill is an abandoned town located in western Duskwood, north of Addle's Stead and south of the Raven Hill Cemetery.), before the area was overcome by shadow.
A night elf by the name Velinde Starsong (Velinde Starsong was a Sentinel in Ashenvale Forest, given the task to clear the forest from the demons.) came to the woods carrying the Scythe of Elune (The Scythe of Elune is an ancient thing, a twisted and gnarled branch that is covered with runes, of wood that could be older than even the Kaldorei.). Unknown events occurred and the Scythe found its way to the mine now known as Roland's Doom (Roland's Doom is the mine which the Scythe of Elune apparently resides.). What exactly happened to her after that is unclear, but it is likely she was killed by something that did not approve of her actions. The powerful weapon was later found by a man who was part of a team of men who had entered the mine looking for the source of its darkness. Jitters (Jitters is a level 25 quest giver located at Raven Hill in the human aligned territory of Duskwood.) picked up the weapon, triggering its effect of summoning. The mine was immediately filled with worgen (Worgen are large, wolf-like humanoids reminiscent of a werewolf that walks upright, but lopes on all fours to run.), who then proceeded to rip the men apart. Jitters escaped with the weapon, but was hunted by the worgen across the woods, which were steadily darkening with the scythe's released curse.
In an attempt to rid himself of their chase, Jitters disposed of the weapon nearby the Yorgen Farmstead (The Yorgen Farmstead is an abandoned farm in southern Duskwood.), whereupon he encountered the Black Riders (The Black Riders of Deadwind Pass, also called Dark Riders,[1] are a mysterious group, apparently a major cause of the corruption of Duskwood.) from Deadwind Pass (Deadwind Pass is a buffer zone located in central Azeroth, joining the southeastern reaches of the Kingdom of Stormwind (via Duskwood) by the east to the Swamp of Sorrows (and, eventually, the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands) by the west.). The riders slaughtered Sven Yorgen (Sven Yorgen is a level 20 quest giver located at a small camp on the northern edge of the Hushed Bank in the human-aligned territory of Duskwood.)'s family in front of Jitters (Jitters is a level 25 quest giver located at Raven Hill in the human aligned territory of Duskwood.)' eyes. The frightened man then escaped to Raven Hill (Raven Hill is an abandoned town located in western Duskwood, north of Addle's Stead and south of the Raven Hill Cemetery.). The darkness lingers in Duskwood, although it is unclear whether the Black Riders claimed the Scythe of Elune and took it with them back to Karazhan. Now the people huddle in former Sunnyglade (Sunnyglade was a town in the Kingdom of Stormwind, then called Azeroth, in the First War.), renamed Darkshire (Darkshire is a once-quaint little woodland village located in Duskwood, but it has fallen on literally dark times.), battling the undead and wolf men who inhabit the murky woods.
