Lord Genn Greymane is the king of the nation of Gilneas (The Kingdom of Gilneas is a human nation located in the peninsula directly south of Silverpine Forest on the continent of Lordaeron.)APG 161ToD 72, 73. He was a large bearish man, with thick features, and a heavy beard, and black and gray armor.ToD 44 He was one of the human leaders who met at the council to form the Alliance of Lordaeron (The Alliance was once known as the Alliance of Lordaeron, or Alliance of humans, elves and dwarves[1].). He was hesitant about joining, and was difficult about it, and less sincere when he agreed to it.APG 161ToD 71, 76 However, he pulled Gilneas from the Alliance (The Alliance (a.) after the Second War (The Second War was a conflict between the Alliance of Lordaeron and the Old Horde, engulfing all the lands of the Eastern Kingdoms, and ending with the victory for the Alliance.). He was also deeply influenced by the House of Prestor, which was actually led (at the time) by Deathwing (Deathwing the Destroyer,[1] originally Neltharion the Earth-Warder, is one of the five Dragon Aspects, and leader of the black dragonflight.) in human form, and is now led by his daughter Onyxia (Lady Onyxia is the current broodmother, and is one of the eldest[citation needed] black dragons of the Black Dragonflight on Azeroth.).
When Alterac's rulership was removed, he had his eye on that land there, even though he had no right to it. He supported Aiden Perenolde (Lord Aiden Perenolde was the king of the nation of Alterac.)'s nephew's (Baron Perenolde is the name of a Death Knight hero mentioned in Mojo Stormstout's Guide and could randomly appear in Warcraft III.) claim to the throne.DotD 7 Lord Genn Greymane never supported the Lordaeron Alliance in the Second War. Thus, after the war, he constructed the Greymane Wall: a massive barrier spanning the entire northern border.LoC 96 He joined the Alliance in the Second War, but offered only token support.APG 158 Thus Gilneas had essentially remained separate from the Alliance of Lordaeron. As ruler of one of the strongest Human nations, Genn Greymane was convinced that his own armies could deal with any threat, and therefore remained unmoved by Lord Lothar's pleas for unity. Despite his apparent disdain for the Alliance, the denizens of Gilneas harbored no fondness for the Orcs or their allies and were prepared to meet them blade for blade.W2Man 43
During the Third War he refused aid to the Alliance, having the Greymane Wall (The Greymane Wall was erected after the Second War by Genn Greymane, as the nation of Gilneas isolated itself from the Alliance because of a dispute surrounding the internment camps for the orcs.) built between Gilneas (The Kingdom of Gilneas is a human nation located in the peninsula directly south of Silverpine Forest on the continent of Lordaeron.) and Silverpine Forest ( Human Worgen Gnoll Murloc
Silverpine Forest is a vast, ancient wood that runs along Lordaeron's rugged western coast.). The Alliance have not heard from him since.
A small group of soldiers known as the Gilneas Brigade (The Gilneas Brigade, commanded by a random mountain king, was a detachment of troops within the survivors of Lordaeron that were led by Jaina Proudmoore to Kalimdor (Cry of the Warsong).) apparently volunteered during the Third War, but they likely were not sent by Genn Greymane.
Greymane's Last Known SpeechAs recorded by Mystrum Runedance presumably at one of the Alliance councils;
Damn the orcs, damn the Alliance, and damn you! The last thing Gilneas needs is sponges from other nations drawing from our resources, Dalaran wizards meddling with our affairs, and someone else's enemies killing our soldiers! Gilneas is its own nation and it always will be. This is the last time I'll ever talk to you, Terenas, so I hope you were listening.LoC 96
