  • Where the "Kargath" Realm name comes from: (Courtesy of WoWWiki.)

Kargath is a Horde (The Horde is one of the two major political factions of the mortal races in Azeroth, its counterpart being the Alliance.)-aligned village in northwestern Badlands (The Badlands is a region in Khaz Modan.). When the orcs (The green skinned orcs are one of the most prolific races of Azeroth.) of the Orcish Horde met defeat in Dun Morogh ( Gnome (2,800) Wildhammer dwarf (840) Human (560) Ice troll Trogg Leper Gnome

Dun Morogh is a region located between the magma-strewn wasteland of the Searing Gorge to the south, the gentle ridges of Loch Modan to the east, and the swampy Wetlands to the north.) and Loch Modan ( Human (250) Wildhammer dwarf (250) Gnome Ogre Dark Iron dwarf Trogg Kobold

Loch Modan is a large area east of Dun Morogh, situated in eastern Khaz Modan.), they were widely eliminated. This small outpost is the last remnant of these forces, hiding in the far western corner of this harsh landscape, the Badlands (The Badlands is a region in Khaz Modan.). Once the Horde was defeated, the Dustbelcher (The Dustbelcher Ogres are primitive ogres living in The Badlands where they try to maintain a living.) ogres (Ogres are large, brutish humanoids originally from Draenor.) abandoned the orcs and now take up residence themselves in the area. With their heavy infantry gone, the orcs had little hope of survival, but thankfully the New Horde under the command of Thrall (Thrall, son of Durotan, is the Warchief of the restored shamanistic Horde, and ruler of the red land of Durotar in Kalimdor.) quickly sent aid and reinforcements to the small outpost. Realizing that any territorial holdings would increase the Horde's effectiveness, Thrall opted to make the outpost permanent and established the fort of Kargath, named after former Shattered Hand (The Shattered Hand Clan was named for the practice of self-mutilation that every grunt in the clan performs.) chieftain, Kargath Bladefist (Warchief Kargath Bladefist (aka Korgath on occasion) is the master of the fel orcs and Chieftain of the Shattered Hand Clan.).

On the orders of Thrall himself, the Kargath Expeditionary Force (The Kargath Expeditionary Force is a military exploration group based out of the outpost of Kargath in the Badlands of Khaz Modan.) makes frequent excursions into the arid landscape. Exploration of the land has revealed rich mineral and gem deposits, as well as Uldaman ( Dark Irons Earthen Troggs

Uldaman is an old, dwarven complex buried deep within the Khaz Mountains.), an excavation site that seems to be of high interest to the dwarves. Horde forces are continually sent to Uldaman to explore the secrets the dwarves value so highly. The Horde also have dug a narrow pass into the Searing Gorge ( Dark Iron dwarf

Searing Gorge is a buffer contested zone in the Eastern Kingdoms for players in the range of level 43-52.) in hopes of finding a road to Blackrock Mountain ( Fire Elemental Dark Iron dwarf Orc Forest troll Ogre

    Kargath's flight path (Eastern KingdomsKalimdorOutland

A flight path (often abbreviated an FP) is the primary means of zone-to-zone travel on Azeroth.) is very important, because it links the northern and the southern areas of Horde flight paths on the Eastern Kingdoms (The Eastern Kingdoms is a group of smaller continents which were formed from Azeroth's original single continent following the Great Sundering.). It links Hammerfall (Hammerfall was formerly one of the largest of the Alliance internment camps.) and Undercity (Darnassus • Ironforge • Stormwind City The Exodar

Orgrimmar • Thunder Bluff • Undercity Silvermoon City

The Undercity is the capital city of the Forsaken Undead of the Horde.) in the north to Grom'Gol (Grom'Gol Base Camp is an Orcish camp built in Stranglethorn Vale, to the north of Booty Bay city, a neutral port of goblins and pirates.), Booty Bay (Booty Bay is a large pirate town nestled into the cliffs surrounding a beautiful blue lagoon on the southern tip of Stranglethorn Vale.), and Stonard (Stonard is the lone Horde outpost located in the Swamp of Sorrows.) in the south.
